• Student learning is our chief priority, and we believe all students can learn.
• Every student is a valued individual with unique physical, social, emotional, and intellectual needs.
• Students learn best when they are actively engaged in the learning process and are given appropriate opportunities for success.
• The responsibility for advancing the school's mission is shared by teachers, administrators, parents, and the community.
• In order to enable students to become confident, self-directed, life-long learners, we must be committed to continuous improvement.
• Positive relationships and mutual respect among and between students and staff enhance a student's self-esteem.
• School should function as a learning organization and promote opportunities for all those who have a stake in the success of the school.
• Assessments should provide students with a variety of opportunities to demonstrate their expected achievement.
• Student learning is promoted by a safe and physically comfortable environment.

   Each student is expected to study English, social studies, mathematics, science, physical education and an elective. The year-long electives offered in the school year 2009-2010 are art, band, choral music, and reading.   Additionally students may choose the semester courses of art/technology or CDD/technology.  Students must pass five of the six subjects for the year in order to be promoted to the eighth grade.
